Laos Shows Gratitude to Cambodia in the Meeting with Prime Minister Hun Sen

PHNOM PENH: The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos, Saleumxay Kommasith expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Hun Sen and the people of Cambodia repeatedly during the meeting between him and the Prime Minister on the afternoon of February 16, 2022.

In a meeting with the Prime Minister at the Peace Palace this afternoon, Saleumxay Kommasith informed the Prime Minister of Cambodia that the government and the people of Laos would like to express their deepest gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Cambodian people for their past assistance to the government and the people of Laos, including the provision of vaccines, vehicles, as well as other facilities for Laos to fight and prevent during the Covid-19 pandemic. He congratulated the Royal Government of Cambodia on its success in preventing the serious spread of Covid-19 epidemic and congratulated Cambodia on its chairmanship of ASEAN in 2022. Laos announced its full support for Cambodia's leadership including the solution for Myanmar.

In response, the Prime Minister said that Cambodia and Laos are like brothers who need to help each other and have agreed to advance whatever has been agreed between the top leaders of the two countries.

The Prime Minister's personal assistant, Eang Sophalleth, told reporters after the meeting, "Minister Prak Sokhonn has agreed to push forward the work agreed upon by the top leaders between the two countries."

Cambodia has already provided three Covid-19 preventative aids to Laos three times, totaling about US $13 million, 700,000 doses of vaccines, two cars, 2.1 million masks, and other medical equipment.
